Presentation by Carlos Ferrás, director of Sociedad, Tecnología y Territorio (GIS-T) research group and professor of Human Geography in USC about three sustainable development projects in Galicia: Proyecto Infobrion, Galicia Auténtica and Granjas familiares.

(In Spanish:)

Sociedad, Tecnología y Territorio (GIS-T) research group is part of the Instituto Universitario de Estudios y Desarrollo de Galicia (IDEGA) of the Santiago de Compostela University. Its mail goal is to foster sustainable development in Galicia and its international scope in the social, economic and land aspects within the Information Society.

Its specialized task is to research the impact of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in society and territory. One of its goals is to generate digital contents adapted to local necessities. These are some of the projects they have created so far:

Infobrión Project

www.infobrion.com aimps to foster social, economic and cultural development within the Concello de Brión. Aims to rescue historical memory and revalue popular culture in the context of the Information Society. In order to do so, www.infobrion.com develops a virtual community, by promoting the use of ICTs as tools for knowledge, information and learning.

Infobrion's main goal is to create a communication and learning space that attracts neighbours of Concello de Brión.

The development of www.infobrion.com implies the design, architecture, programming, promotion and dynamization of a website to promote e-Inclusion, as well as social and community development based on the creation of a virtural environment for the communcation.

Galicia Auténtica (Authentic Galicia)

Galicia Auténtica program shows rural life as it is. A way of getting to know the landscape, history, ways of living, festivities, food... of the real Galicia. An alternative approach to rural Galicia.

Granjas familiares (Family Farms)

Granxafamiliar.com is aimed to farm families of Galicia who traditionally practiced companion planting and rural multifuntionality for self-consum and that are currently trying to market their goods. On the side of the buyer, this could be any family, collective, company, social institution... that feels atracted by their prices, quality or way of marketing. The goal is to create information channels between rural and urban Galicia.

In December 2008, producers of Granxa Familiar and members of Grupo de Investigación Sociedad, Tecnología y Territorio of the University of Santiago de Compostela, decided to create a non-profit association calle ADAF: Asociación para el Desarrollo de la Agricultura Familiar. This association shares the same principles as Granxa Familiar and aims to manage this I+D+i project supported by the University of Santiago de Compostela.
