Paper by Marta Morales presented within the context of the workshop-seminar Interactivos?'08: Juegos de la visión, celebrated in Medialab-Prado from May 30 through June 14, 2008.
This paper proposal is part of an ongoing research project about the work of scultor, painter and writer Alberto Giacometti. Going beyond the obvious references of this author -and his work's perceptive problems- it tries to think about the crisis of the artistic object in Modernity in a close relationship with the break or the problematic of certain visual assumptions such as the phenomenological, that have been proved as insufficient. Considering this crisis -after the simbolic inflection of 1945- leads to think about the loss of thickness of a world whose signs can't be clearly interpreted any longer.
