Lecture by Don Ihde, Stony Brook University, New York (USA), within 6th International Conference on the Philosophy of Computer Games: The Nature of Player Experience.
Computer games involve human bodily skills and through the history of development different skills and degrees of engagement have changed. This lecture will examine some of the trajectories of embodiment, from eye-hand coordination to full body activity, both at the individual and social levels. It will also examine the existential impact of games with respect to one's self identity and social engagements emphasizing the phenomena of multistability and new forms of embodiment.
