"This paper uses Jacques Ranciere’s notion of historically determinate distributions of sensible experience to investigate the possibility of video games qualifying as contemporary art. It demonstrates the applicability of aesthetic concepts to games, with reference to different kinds of engagement that are made possible by various game interfaces. The argument will be that video games differ from art primarily in the way that each disposes the audience in relation to others, or to society." By Graeme Kirkpatrick
