Place: Medialab-Prado · Plaza de las Letras, C/ Alameda, 15 Madrid
First of the work sessions dedicated to the reflection on Film in the 21st Century by the Cine Sin Autor collective, within the framework of the Commons Lab 2011-2012.
Cine Sin Autor aims to enhance the role of populations –collectives, associations, groups, etc. - as producers in the construction of their own audiovisual image, i.e., as producers of a new filmic image specific to the 21st century, removed from commercial and auteur cinema. In this session there will be a debate focusing on themes such as film politics, social dynamics of the cinematographic image, media and knowledge property, or the paradigm shift in the audiovisual medium.

Topics for the debate:
Working Rules for the Sessions:
Exercise 1. Particular Cinematographic Methodologies:
We shall think of the group as a production team that has the possibility to “make a film” someplace far from their living places.
We will have two questions in mind:
-What would it mean for each one of us to “make a film in an unknown territory”?
-What methodology would each of the participants use in the process?
Concept to debate on:
Collectivity Politics in the broader frame of Film History. Induction readings on the Cine Sin Autor blog, where material elaborated over the last years will be available. We recommend the following links:
- Los segundos orígenes del cine. ¡Organizarnos!
- Tres políticas y tres subjetividades del cine. Hacia una “política de la colectividad”
- Real Política de la Colectividad... del cine. Sobre otras cuestiones de espacio y tiempo
Screenings: An Approach to the Three Forerunning Experiences of a Collectivized Cinema
We suggest online researches on cinema:
a) Jorge Sanjinés
b) Peter Watkins and the Proyecto Video in Brazilian villages.
If we have enough time, we will analyze certain film scenes, which we will facilitate. We will also have screenings of some of the Cine Sin Autor collective’s filmic documents.
Register to join the group before December 31, 2011. More information: laboratorio-procomun(at)medialab-prado.es
