Place: Salón de actos de la Escuela de Arte10 (Avenida de la Ciudad de Barcelona, 25 28007 Madrid)
Femke Snelting from Constant (Brussels) presents Libre Graphic Research Unit (LGRU), a cross-disciplinary project that involves artists, designers and programmers to reflect and create free graphic design tools.
An introduction to some free software programs for designers such as Scribus, Inkscape and Gimp by graphic design students Laura Calderón, María Hojas and Jorge Barahona will follow.
Plase note: This activity takes place at Escuela de Arte 10
LGRU is a traveling lab where new ideas for creative tools are developed. Its diverse activities range from the practical to the theoretical via writing, research meetings, experimental prototyping, conferences and workshops.
Constant is a non-profit association, an interdisciplinary arts-lab based and active in Brussels since 1997.
Constant works in-between media and art and is interested in the culture and ethics of the World Wide Web. The artistic practice of Constant is inspired by the way that technological infrastructures, data-exchange and software determine our daily life. Free software, copyright alternatives and (cyber)feminism are important threads running through the activities of Constant.
Constant organizes workshops, print-parties, walks and ‘Verbindingen/Jonctions’-meetings on a regular basis for a public that’s into experiments, discussions and all kinds of exchanges.
