07.04.2011 19:00h

Place: Medialab-Prado · Plaza de las Letras, C/ Alameda, 15 Madrid

REDEFINING MAGS! is an open code and collaborative research project of the Masters in Editorial Design of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid. The goal is to rethink one of the most relevant cultural objects of the 20th Century: the magazine. During three months, students, collaborators and experts in computer depelopment will work intensively to develop projects that give the magazine a new meaning within the framework of the latest digital devices. With the participation of Marcelino Llano and Edgar González

redefining

During the last five years we have witnessed the beginning of a phenomenon that had been forecasted for 25 years: the migration from paper to screen as a lecture device.

We can find different examples of this trend, such as the online bookstore Amazon –the world's biggest one-, which sells more electronic books than printed books; the drifting computer industry, focused now in producing more information devices rather than computers as a tool for production, or the need of a more selective information. Professionals of the edition field have therefore the need to restate the basis of their business.

Interaction design specialist Marcelino Llano and architect Edgar González present this project by giving an overview of the current state of the digital publishing for new media.
