Lecture by Kerry Mitchell (Sunlight Foundation) within the context of the Visualizar'09: Public Data, Data in Public workshop-seminar (November 12 through 27, 2009).
With the massive and unprecedented amount of data being released by the US government in machine readable formats a significant opportunity exists to demonstrate the value of this increased level of transparency through the creation and dissemination of relevant and timely data visualizations. In this talk, I would like to discuss the work of the Sunlight Foundation and Sunlight Labs and how datasets and visualizations are being used to both engage and enrage the 21st century citizenry.
