Doctorate in Anthropology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico. Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico D.F. Since 1989, he has taken part in the Urban Culture Program directed by Dr. Néstor García Canclini. Within the framework of this project, he has carried out studies on cultural consumption, urban culture, social movements, and cultural policy.

As an advisor, he has been invited to comment on governmental projects about culture.  In 1999 he took part in a UNESCO mission in the Dominican Republic to evaluate works prior to the establishment of the Ministry of Culture in that country. In Mexico, he took part as a specialist in the study prior to the Culture chapter in the proposal for the  Plan de Desarrollo Urbano (2000) and as an advisor of CONACULTA to carry out the record of activities from 1994-2000.
