Medialab Prado

Full Professor at the American Studies Program and the Spanish and Portuguese Department at New York University (NYU). He is the director of the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos y del Caribe. He is the director of the Privatization of Culture Project, a research center on cultural policies, also at NYU, and director of the Red Interamericana de Estudios Culturales. His is the author of works including: On Edge: The Crisis of Contemporary Latin American Culture (University of Minnesota Press, 1992), Cultural Policy (Sage, 2002), with a version in Spanish: [Cultura política (Gedisa 2004), and El recurso de la cultura: Usos de la cultura en la era global (Gedisa, 2002), with a version in English: The Expediency of Culture: The Uses of Culture in a Global Era (Duke UP 2003).
