Javier Duero is a member of Pensart a non-profit organisation formed by a group of professionals who focus in contemporary art, social practices and art education, working toward cultural mediation. Duero has been artistic director [2005-2007] of Observatori, Research Arts Festival, held annually at the Museum of the Arts in Valencia. He has advised AVAM Associated Visual Artists of Madrid and has been a member of Estampa, International Contemporary Art Fair committee [2007-2009]. She served on the nominating committee of the Berlin Fair Play Prize, an award dedicated to film and video work in order to explore the effect of visual language in contemporary video art. It was also a member of the selection of Artport, an initiative of The New York Foundation for the Arts, a series of international exchange projects linking artists from different cultural backgrounds through interconnected residency programs.
In 2009, he was selected as curator of the program Performing ARCO with Los Angeles as guest city for the 2010 edition. He has curated video art projects for LOOP Barcelona Art Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair, Beijing Art Fair and Photo Brasilia. He has been jury and consultant for HEAD Haute Ecole d 'Art et de Design in Geneva, Art and Performance Department [2009-2010]. Recently he was invited to participate as a curator in the project Archive Creators of Contemporary Creation Center Matadero Madrid. He currently coordinates Mapping Madrid, a research project on the cultural sector of the Community of Madrid commissioned by the Art Center CA2M Dos de Mayo, and has been invited to join the curatorial committee for JUSTMAD Art Fair 2011.
