Josu Mezo

Josu Mezo (Bilbao, 1965) holds a degree in Law (Deusto), a Master’s degree in Social Sciences (Instituto Juan March in Madrid) and a PhD in Political Science (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). He is a professor at the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha in Toledo. His academic work is related to public policy, especially linguistic and environmental policies.

In 2004 he started the blog Malaprensa, with the intention of contributing a critical reading of the Spanish press, especially everything related to mistaken numbers, incorrect graphs, failures of logic, poor interpretations of statistics or scientific data, and so on.

The positive response to his blog led to invitations to offer courses at several journalism schools and the Summer Courses at the El País-UAM Journalism School. Since 2006, he has written for the magazine Cuadernos de Periodistas, published by the Madrid Press Association Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid. From 2007 to 2009, he was a contributor to the digital newspaper ADN.es, with his blog El ruido y las nueces.
