He is the author of many articles and essays on Contemporary Art Theory and New Media, and of the books Prácticas artísticas e Internet en la época de las redes sociales (AKAL, Colección de Arte contemporáneo, 2012), Las nuevas condiciones del arte contemporáneo (Briseño editors, 2003) and La apropiación posmoderna. Arte, práctica apropiacionista yTteoría de la posmodernidad (Ed. Fundamentos, 2001)

He has contributed to the journals EXIT, EXIT Book, Estudios visuales, Fibreculture-The Journal, REIS, Red Digital, FLUOR, Papers d’art (Fundació Espais d’Art Contemporani, A minima, Temps d’art, Transversal, DeForma (Ed. Sendemà) and the cultural supplement “Cultura/s” of the daily newspaper La Vanguardia, among many other printed and digital publications. He has written texts for catalogues and readers edited by publishers such as AKAL, Cátedra, Narcea, Seacex-Turner.

His texts and works have been reedited for magazines and publications such as “Babelia” (EL PAÍS), Arte y Parte, Revista Turia, ABC Cultural, ARCO Noticias, “Cultura/s” (La Vanguardia), CiberPaís, Revista Lápiz, El Punt/Avui, etc

He holds a BA and a PhD in Philosophy from the Complutense University (1998), where he wrote his thesis on Aesthetical Reception and Postmodern Theory. He teaches Contemporary Art Theory in several postgraduate programmes, as well as MA and PhD seminars. He directed the MA in Art and New Technology of the European University of Madrid and he is a Visiting Lecturer at the Communication and Art Criticism Course at the Universitat de Girona, and at the MA in Museology and Contemporary Criticism of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), as well as in the MA in Theory and Cultural Critique at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, among many other postgraduate and doctoral seminars.

He taught at the School of Architecture of the European University of Madrid (1998-2000), where he also directed the Art Department (2000-2003) and has been a Lecturer at the Universidad de Valladolid (2003-2004). Currently, he is a professor at the Social and Communication Sciences School at the Universidad de Cadiz. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (London) and the Royal College of Art and Design (London).

He has been a member of the Humanities Commission and of the Art-Science-Technology Group of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and, since 2007, is the external director of Medialab-Prado’s Inclusiva-net platform.
