Kim Halskov is professor in interaction design at The Department of information and Media Studies at Aarhus University, Denmark, where he in addition to being director of Centre for Advanced Visualization and Interaction, see www.CAVI.dk, also is director of the Centre for Digital Urban Living, www.DigitalUrbanLiving.dk. The centre is exploring the nature of digital urban living from a complementary and integrated set of theoretical perspectives: interaction design, interface aesthetics, innovation management, and experience communication. The activities of the centre revolves around experimental research into digital art, mediafacade, cultural heritage, and civic communication. From a background in participatory design Kim Halskov’s research area include innovation process, design processes, and mapping of design processes with a particular interest in the role of sources of inspiration and the emergence of ideas. Recent design projects have been conducted in an urban setting with a particular focus on media facades and addressed the challenges for interaction designers related to: Material, Form, Location, Situation, Content, Interaction, and Value.
