Mark Hansen

Mark Hansen is an Associate Professor of Statistics at the Universiy of California at Berkeley (UCLA), were he got his Ph. D. Degree in Statistics in 1994. He is currently working on streaming data analysis, text mining and information retrieval and Information theory and its applications to statistics among others. From 1994 to 2002 he was a member of the Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, were he developed experiments with sound in support of data analysis and worked on the practical use of spline spaces for function estimation and quality improvement in IC manufacturing. He has been Invited Visiting Researcher in many different Universities, such as Cornell University (Ithaca, United States), Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany) or New South Wales University (Australia). His collaborations with Ben Rubin in projects like Listening Post are some of the more powerful examples of the use of data mining techniques in the context of digital art.
