Miguel Vidal

Miguel Vidal is a Unix system administrator and currently works as a teacher and researcher in the open source software engineering group at URJC (Rey Juan Carlos University)[1]. He was involved in the deployment of the current High Availability infrastructure on the Morfeo Project and has collaborated in the administration and low level maintenance of the OSOR European Platform. He coordinates and teaches in the official Master’s degree programme in Open Source Software at URJC  and also at the Master’s degree programme in Digital Economics and Creative Industries at the EOI Business School. In the past, he worked at the REA (Real Academia Española) and CSIC (the Spanish National Research Council). For more than a decade, he has taken part in various initiatives for the dissemination of open source software and free culture. He was a co-founder of the sinDominio.net project, and “sysadmin” and editor of Barrapunto for seven years. Since 2010, he has headed the project for translating into Spanish the documentation of the OpenBSD project [2]. He has been involved in Wikipedia since 2005 and has been a sysop (librarian) fBarrapuntoor Wikipedia in Spanish Wikipedia en español since 2007.  He offers frequent informational lectures at a wide range of venues on all these subjects, especially on the use of free licences and about Wikipedia.
